E armuffs (耳罩) were invented because of a Christmas present. I n 1873, Chester Greenwood received a pair of ice skates (溜冰鞋) for Christmas. When he skated in the December cold, his ears hurt. S o he put a piece of warm cloth over each ear. T hen he connected the cloths with wire. T he wire held the pieces of cloth close to his ears. C hester ’ s earmuffs kept his ears warm.
