Mr. White was only about thirty-five years old, but his hair stopped growing. There was no hair on the top of his head. He did not like this because people thought he was fifty or sixty years old. So he went to a barber’s(理发师) shop one day. He asked the barber for something to make his hair grow again. The barber showed him some brown cream(乳霜).
"Put some of this on your head every night," he told Mr. White. "Then your hair will soon start to grow again."
Mr. White bought some cream and took them home. Three weeks later, he returned to the barber’s shop. He looked very worried.
"What’s the matter" asked the barber.
"You sold me some cream to make my hair grow," said Mr. White.
"Yes, that’s right," said the barber. "That cream is very good."
"I’m sure you’re right," said Mr. White, "My wife didn’t know it was for my hair. Instead, she cleaned our tables and chairs with it."
"Never mind," said the barber, "I’ve got some more cream here."
"I’m not worried about that, "said Mr. White, "but can you come to my house this evening, please"
"Why" asked the barber. He was surprised to hear that.
"I want you to give our tables and chairs a haircut." said Mr. White.
The barber asked Mr. White to use cream on his head to help hair grow.
